Our mission statement: The Mission of the Long Neck United Methodist Church is to make Disciples of Jesus Christ for the Transformation of the World. – What better way then to start with our youth.
Youth Group begins at 6:00 p.m. and ends at 7:30 p.m. every other Sunday night.  Check our church calendar for exact days and events.
Lots of exciting things happening this year, Youth Rally in Ocean City, MD, ceramic fundraiser, Christmas Fair, lock-in and a lot more! Come check it out!

Adult Sunday School/Bible Study

– We continue our study between first and second service in Benjamin Hall.   This will be a study of the Methodist church, the founder, (John  Wesley) some doctrine, and Bible reading. Classes are Open to all, and  will run until November 19. Classes will resume after the holiday season. If you have any questions, contact the church office.

Bible Study With Pastor Bruce We will begin a Bible Study of the Book of The Acts of the Apostles (“Acts”).  The class will be on Tuesday evenings beginning at 7:00 p.m. until 8:30 p.m.  Historically, it has taken approximately six weeks to complete the study.  FIRST CLASS WILL BE OCTOBER 3, 2017.  SIGN UP FOR CLASS IN THE REAR OF THE SANCTUARY IF YOU WISH TO ATTEND.

History Alive! 

The History Team is working on a comprehensive history of the Long Neck United Methodist Church.  We are seeking information pertaining to our church if anyone has ANYTHING.  Examples of things which would be helpful might include:  pictures, Sunday School history, previous pastoral information, activities, members of the church, recognitions, old bulletins, celebrations and the like.  We will guard your treasurers and be sure they are returned.  If you have anything at all we can use, please contact Bill Smoyer through the Church Office.

Sight and Sound

– to see JESUS on Thursday, July 12, 2018.  The cost for the bus, lunch and show is $118.00 per person. Please see the sign-up sheet in the Hospitality Room or Carol Loy. If you have given a deposit already please still sign so we an accurate count of how many seats are already taken.

 If you want a nice gift for a friend that isn’t to expensive and something they will probably use almost everyday, then see the Rada Catalog in the Hospitality Room.  Pick up an order form and give the order and your payment to either Joanne Allen or Lois Goepel.  If paying by check please make the check out to: LNUMW with Rada on the memo line.


United Methodist Emblem Jewelry – With Christmas just a few months away, it isn’t too early to be thinking about a beautiful silver necklace with the UM Cross and Flame.  They are handcrafted by a local gentleman and his prices are very reasonable.  If you would like to order one of them, see Pat Deubert for the lengths and prices.  You can contact her through the Church office

The profit from these projects will help the UMW with their yearly mission projects.


FALL FLING will be held on October 28, 2018 from 9 am to 1 pm.  If you have items you wish to donate while you are cleaning out your closets or doing your fall cleaning, please remember the church can use them for this event.  You can start bringing them to Benjamin Hall starting October 2, during the church office hours.  If you have items to donate but are not able to bring them yourself contact the office and Arrangements will be made to have them picked up.  If you have any questions, see Myrtle Thomas. REMEMBER NO CLOTHES PLEASE!

Altar Flowers – If you have had flowers placed on the altar this year, would you please check your records to see if you have paid for them.  We have several weeks which appear not to have been paid for.


Craft Folks– Everyone is invited to join the crafters every Wednesday in Behm Hall at 10 am till ? for making items to sell at the Christmas Craft Show on December 2, 2017.  If you have ideas or if you just want to help make things please come and join them.  Even if you are not “crafty” there is always something you can do to help.  If you have any questions contact Pat Norton through the Church office.

Bake Tables – Fall Fling (October 28, 2017) and Craft Show (December 2, 2017) – everyone is asked to donate cakes, pies, cookies, fudge, candies, etc.  They are asking that it be HOMEMADE

and not purchased at the store and brought to be sold at the church.  The UMW will once again be manning these area for these events.  If you have any questions, contact Myrtle Thomas or Mary Jo Wood.


Sunday School Operation Christmas Child Outreach Project -Starts today.  The collection of donations and items will run until Sunday Nov 13, 2017.  The Sunday School Children will be packing the boxes on Nov 13 and all shoeboxes are due to church that Sunday.  There will be an “OCC” table will be set up in the back of the church in front of the Nursery window. Please take a moment to review the items that may be collected and sent. There are a few changes this year. NO TOOTHPASTE, CANDY, or LIQUIDS of any kind many be sent this year.  The cost of shipping a box has gone up to $9.00.  There are several options available for you to help the Sunday School reach their goal of 40 Shoeboxes packed with shipping. Christmas Fair Is Coming!  Yes, it’s that time of year already!  We have to begin preparing for the Christmas Fair again this year.  Would you help us?  We need volunteers and stewards to help make this event a success. Interested?  Please contact Leslie Smoyer at or  the pastors to sign on to this wonderful and fun event.  Our first planning meeting is set for Tuesday, September 19th at 6 PM in the library.

Beyond The Broken Heart, Session II.

  Are you experiencing grief or depressed feelings for any reason?  Grief is a natural, human process of dealing with loss or hurt.  Please join us on Thursday evenings at 7pm, as we walk through t he study of grief and healing broken hearts.  Please contact Kaye Lemke through Church office for more information.


Christian Community Concert

On September 23rd, from 6:00-8:00pm we will be holding a Christian Community Concert on our church grounds. Come out and enjoy an evening of music and fellowship with our neighbors and fellow congregants.   There Is no charge for this event. Snacks and water will be provided. Bring a lawn chair or blanket as this will be an outdoor event!!

Sanctuary Open For Prayer –

Teri and a team of volunteers will open the Sanctuary every Wednesday from 9:00 – 11:00 a.m.  Please feel free to come to the campus and spend time with God.  Thanks Teri and your team for this vital prayer ministry.

Have You Ever Wondered about Prayer & Fasting as a Spiritual Discipline? 

We are going to conduct a mini-study on the subject of Prayer and Fasting (probably two sessions).  We are called – as Methodists and disciples – to fast regularly.  How do we fast?  What do we do?  Why?  Hopefully, this study will answer these and many other questions.  Stay Tuned!
